A Female Portrait on Silk – Attributed to Prodigious Chinese Artist Zhang Daqian (1899 – 1993). Originally known as Guohua (traditionalist) painter by the 1960s he was also renowned as a modern impressionist and expressionist.
The inscription described that Zhang Daqian intended to apply water colour on it but due to alum was not
appropriated applied on silk to function as the base of pigments, he switched to line drawing technique.
The painting was appreciated by Cheng Shifa and received high admiration. 84cmx 38cm.
