Late 17th Century Japanese Samurai Short Sword (Wakizashi). Generally, as a gesture of good will the katana would be stored in a way that made it difficult for the samurai to draw it quickly. The wakizashi on the other hand was a staple worn at all times—it would even stay under a samurai’s pillow when he slept. This needs a little t.l.c will be needed if this is going to be any thing other than a display piece,
