Day 1 of Two-day General Auction
A Magnificent French 19th Century gilt bronze and champleve enamel porcelain mantel garniture – In the Japonisme style. Parts late 19th Century and later the clock of ovoid pedestal vase form with serpent, butterfly and prunus blossom with decoration reserved on a turquoise ground. Flanked by two seated Buddhistic lions with pierced brocade balls, the domed cover with corresponding finial. The bow-fronted oval naturalistic base raised on scroll feet with stylised pierced sharp apron. The three-inch dial with brass numerals – the brass twin train movement with outside counterwheel striking on a bell, with pendulum and key. A matching four-light, four-branch candelabra on porcelain vase supports decorated with roundels of carp, snails and dragonflies.
